Our Team

At Uplift India Global, we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Our vision was to create a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and succeed, as we were always given the opportunities and resources to thrive in all aspects of our lives. Our collective passion for social change and deep-rooted belief in the power of community empowerment serve as the guiding principles of Uplift India Global. After multiple trips to India throughout our lives, we have witnessed the harsh realities faced by many communities, specifically those in less fortunate regions of India. These experiences have ignited a passion within us to promote change. Thus, Uplift India Global was born, driven by a commitment to empower and uplift those in need!

Outside of UpliftIndia, I am an Eagle Scout and use my leadership experience from this program to create change and work with others. I am also a swim instructor and love to volunteer across various organizations. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, and listening to music. Tanya Shah: Co-Founder

Hi! I’m Tanya, a 12th grader grader at LHS, driven by a desire to create positive change both locally and globally. My involvement with Uplift India Global stems from a deep-rooted commitment to help those in need in India while also fostering impactful change in my own community. My experiences teaching Indian children in Livingston at Sanskriti—especially in language skills and cooking—have deeply inspired me to take meaningful action and establish Uplift India Global. This November, I will be delivering a TED Talk titled “Brave, Bold, Brilliant: The Power of Imperfect Girls,” where I explore the importance of embracing imperfection in young girls. Alongside my nonprofit work, I am also developing Remini, a memory care app designed to support patients with Alzheimer’s disease and their caretakers, blending my passion for technology and compassion. I am excited to embark on this journey with Uplift India Global, applying my skills and dedication to empower individuals in India and beyond, creating lasting impact through education and technology.

Sanjana Pusapati: Vice President

Hi! I am Sanjana Pusapati, a 11th grader grader at Livingston High School. I am an avid reader and enjoy teaching kids English Language and History. I worked with an author as a Editorial Assistant for Academic Manuscript Preparation and completed my internship at Millburn Historical Museum where I worked on the Historical Society Museum Collection, learning how to assess the historical significance of individual items by archiving, researching and photographing materials pertaining to the rich history of Millburn-Short Hills. I enjoy volunteering at Museums and teaching kids about significant events that reshaped history. I work with underserved communities and teach kids how to reach and write and encourage them to read. I also run book collection drives and create literacy kits that help local communities. I am a Life Scout and enjoy being part of the Scouting community.

Jiya Sanghvi: Event Coordinator

I am an 11th grader at LHS who is very passionate about helping uplift communities and groups of people who are often overlooked in society. I hope to expand the scope of people I help through Uplift India and am excited to work with our local and international communities to bring positive change. In my free time, I enjoy baking for my friends and family and run my own nonprofit focused on opening the kitchen to people with physical and mental disabilities. I also spend volunteering in local groups and am always looking to build new friendships and connections wherever I go.

Inspired by the passion and vision of our founders, we invite you to join us in our mission to uplift India. Together, we can build a brighter future for generations to come!
